Winter Welcome Week At Washington’s Headquarters

  |   December 5, 2013  |  Comment

Before the year comes to a close, visit Washington’s Headquarters State Historic Site for Winter Welcome Week, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, December 26th, 27th and 28th, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. An 18th Century attired historic interpreter will serve as your guide through the seasonally decorated headquarters used by General and Mrs. Washington during the last year of the Revolutionary War.

Within the rooms history was made when Washington announced the cease fire, rejected a monarchy, and created and awarded the Badge of Military Merit, precursor of the Purple Heart.

Along with the headquarters, admission to the Museum, featuring “Unpacked and Rediscovered,” our award-winning exhibit of over 1,300 artifacts, is included. Have your silhouette traced using a camera lucida to create a personal souvenir to take home as a remembrance of the day.

Visit us before the year is over and make it an early New Year resolution to come again for our three-day George Washington Birthday Celebration, in February.

Voted by the Hudson Valley Magazine as The Best in the Hudson Valley, 2013.
