WINDHAM MOUNTAIN EVENT SCHEDULE 2012-2013

Windham Mountain offers a variety of events each season. Here is the 2012-2013 lineup.

Ullr Festival

Opening Weekend (Scheduled for December 8, 2012, weather permitting.)  The mythical Norse ski god will join Windham Mountain for a FIRE AND ICE ceremony to pray for a great winter. Ullr will ski and give away prizes to celebrate our opening weekend.

Skiing and Riding Santa Day

December 16, 2012 – “When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, but hundreds of Santa’s all dressed in their snow gear!” Windham Mountain invites all skiing and riding Santa’s to spend a day at our resort. A free ski pass and two additional midweek, non-holiday vouchers will be given to those dressed in head-to-toe Santa costumes for the day. All skiing and riding Santa’s will be required to pre-register. (Limited to 300. Registration opens on November 30, 2012.) A minimum donation of $20 is requested and will be given to the Salvation Army. All Santa’s will meet in the morning for an initial group ski and ride.

Christmas Week

December 26, 2012 – January 1, 2013- Celebrate the Holidays at Windham Mountain! Skiing and riding will be available from December 26, 2012 through December 31, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., and on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The Mountain Top Adventure Park will be open for day and night tubing (day only on Tuesday, January 1, 2013).

New Year’s Eve

December 31, 2012 – Celebrate with your friends and family at Legends Bar & Grill with a live band, drinks and a party that starts the New Year off right! Windham Mountain will bring in the New Year with kids entertainment, a DJ playing all night, a fantastic fireworks display and the Amish Outlaws playing from 8:30 – 12:30 p.m.

College Week

January 7-11, 2013 – Come show your school spirit! Windham Mountain offers $25 lift tickets all week for college students with a valid student ID card. Additional deals include Ski & Stay Packages at the Winwood Inn starting at $79.50 pp, Monday-Thursday, 20% discount on appetizers at Rock’n Mexicana, $3.00 Draft Specials in Legends Lounge and 20% discount on Windham Mountain logo gear at Windham Mountain Sports and rentals at the Demo Center.

Wounded Warrior Learn to Ski & Ride Weekend

January 11-13, 2013 – The Adaptive Sports Foundation, the Wounded Warrior Project and Windham Mountain are proud to present the Wounded Warrior Learn to Ski & Ride Weekend.  For the past eight years, the ASF, WWP and Windham Mountain have brought hundreds of severely wounded United States Service men and women to Windham Mountain for a weekend of winter sport R&R.  The weekend includes skiing and riding lessons for not only the wounded warrior but for their family as well. To learn more, visit http://www.windhammountain.com/lessons-programs/adaptive-sports-foundation/.

College Night

January 12, 2013 – Whether you are in college, went to college, or have an affinity for college parties, all are welcome at Windham Mountain’s College Night. Johnny Monster Band will play live from 3:00-6:00 p.m. and Legends Lounge will feature a lineup of Comedians (recommended for adult audience only).

Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Weekend

January 19-21, 2012 – Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Weekend with live music and drink specials in Legends Lounge. The Johnny Moon & Starz will return to perform at Legends Bar & Grill on Sunday from 3:00-6:00 p.m. A DJ on the patio will keep the party going all weekend long.

Western Hoedown

January 26-27, 2013 – Break out your boots (the cowboy ones) for Windham Mountain’s Western Hoedown Weekend. We have live western music, drink specials, and a Mechanical Bull in Legends from 2:00–5:00 p.m.

NFL Championship Game Weekend

February 2-3, 2013 – Celebrate the end of football season and watch the biggest game of the year. The Lustre Kings will play on Saturday in Legends from 3:00–6:00 p.m. We’ll party all weekend long with great contests including the longest field goal kick in a ski boot and a football throw contest. Then come to Rock’n Mexicana to watch the NFL Championship. Great food and drink specials will keep the party going through the last nail-biting seconds.

Woodstock 2013

February 9, 2013 – Transport back to that epic festival in 1969 when the hair was long, the beards were thick and the bells were big. The Reflections will play 60’s favorites in Legends Lounge on Saturday and beer and liquor promos will be served.

Big Air Bag Throwdown

February 16, 2013 – Windham Mountain will host the annual Big Air Bag Throwdown on Saturday night. Skiers and riders bring their best tricks to the Big Air Bag at Windham Mountain. This competition will be a dual elimination format, with the judges determining which athlete moves on to the next round. A DJ will keep things lively and dole out swag generously and in Legends U2 cover band Joshua Tree will play from 3:00-6:00 p.m.

President’s Week

February 16-24, 2013 – Night skiing and riding will be available from February 16 – 23, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The Mountain Top Adventure Park will be open all week for day and night tubing (day only on Sunday, February 24, 2013).

Bavarian Bash                                              

February 23, 2013 – Area entertainers will join us for the weekend to share the best of the Bavarian culture. It’s Oktoberfest, a few months late. Die Schlauberger will play in Legends on Saturday from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Featuring authentic German music and wardrobe, beer, brats and other food specialties. And Die Mountain Brauhaus Schuhplattler Verein, a German dancing group, will perform during the band’s breaks.

U.S. Ski Team Day

March 2-3, 2013 – American legends of skiing, including Olympians will hit the slopes Saturday, March 2, 2013 for the third annual U.S. Ski Team Day at Windham Mountain. The fun-filled event will include local Adaptive Sports heroes for a day of skiing, riding and inspiration.

The goal of the event is both to raise funds for the U.S. Ski Team and to give guests, particularly Windham Mountain Junior Program participants, the opportunity to meet world class athletes. There are public and private events planned with the athlete and Johnny Moon & the Starz will play in Legends Lounge from 3:00-6:00 p.m.

The Michael Gray Memorial Ski & Snowboard Race

March 2-3, 2013 – Michael J. Gray, Jr. was a snowboard instructor with the Windham Mountain Snow Sports School, when he was tragically killed in a car accident. To honor Michael’s memory and dedication to snow sports, the Gray family started a memorial race in Michaels honor to be held Saturday, March 2, 2013. The proceeds from the race are donated to the Adaptive Sports Foundation (ASF), an organization that offers a disabled person the chance to enjoy the sport of skiing/snowboarding as much as Michael did.

Ralph Hartman Tribute Race

March 9, 2013 – The Ralph Hartman Tribute Race gives adaptive skiers and riders the opportunity to feel the excitement of being in a race course and running gates. The emphasis of the Hartman is on the experience of the race, not on winning.  Open to all skiers and snowboarders with physical and cognitive challenges able to ski or ride beginner terrain – specifically the lower White Way trail at Windham Mountain.  For more information on the race, please visit http://www.adaptivesportsfoundation.org/programs/competition-programs.

Snowmakers’ Race

March 12, 2013 – Area resorts send their snowmakers to compete in the Annual Snowmakers’ Classic. Contests include hose pulling, slalom races and freestyle competitions. Resorts compete for bragging rights and prizes.

Irish I was Skiing/Riding Festival

March 16-17, 2013 – Kiss me – I’m at Windham Mountain. Legend has it that if you catch a (skiing) leprechaun, you get the gold (kids can catch the leprechaun who has gold coin chocolate).  There will be a Pipe and Drum Band and a DJ on the Patio, Guinness drink specials all weekend, and a great Irish band – The Ruffians – in Legends on Saturday from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.

Parrothead Spring Fling Festival

March 23-24, 2013 – Come celebrate the arrival of spring with beach balls, leis, a steel drummer and palm trees. In partnership with the local Parrothead chapter, our “party with a purpose” raises money for local charity. The beach festival presents Jimmy and the Parrots a Jimmy Buffet cover band in Legends from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. And check out our infamous Pond Skimming competition.
