Windham Mountain and the Town of Windham are proceeding with plans to host the 17th annual Autumn Affair and Homecoming Celebration on Columbus Day weekend.

Chip Seamans, general manager and chief operating officer of Windham Mountain, acknowledged the importance of committing to this year’s event.

“Holding the Autumn Affair and Homecoming Celebration is an important step in letting Windham’s marketplace know that the town and resort are open for business now and for the upcoming winter season,” said Seamans.

Graham Merk, local business owner and Windham Chamber of Commerce chairman, acknowledged the importance of moving forward with the event after Hurricane Irene.

“Local residents, business owners and guests who travel to Windham will have the opportunity to take in the progress first hand while celebrating autumn in the Catskill Mountains,” said Merk.

The Autumn Affair will be on October 8-9, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Events will be held at four locations throughout the heart of Windham. Entertainment will include a classic car show, various musical acts and children’s activities including wood working clinic and bounce house.

Windham Mountain’s Homecoming Celebration coincides with the Autumn Affair and will take place at the resort’s base lodge.

Events at the resort will include Windham-Ashland-Jewett CSD’s Annual Ski Swap and the Windham Mountain Sport’s Tent Sale. Family activities include pumpkin painting, a gourd launching competition and the traditional “Ski Crow” Festival with additional activities to be announced.
