Whatcha Doing New Year’s Eve in the HV

There are so many options, from getting in the swing with contra and square dancing at Ashokan Center to a romantic dinner for two. Perhaps you simply yearn for a pampering spa treatment, a good movie and a retreat from the hubub at a B&B. It’s all good.
But we would be remiss if we didn’t share these 12 delightfully fun things to do on New Year’s Eve as well as two ideas for New Year’s Day reprinted from Hudson Valley Goodstuff.com.
1) Let Chris O’Leary Band and Simi Stone sing you into the new year at The Towne Crier Cafe in Beacon on December 31st at 9:30pm. This is going to be a great concert, and you have the option of having buying tickets to the show with a champagne toast for $50, or dinner & the show with a bottle of champagne per couple for $125.
2) Peekamoose Restaurant in Big Indian is having a New Years Eve After Hours Hullabaloo: DJ and Dancing in the new year – with bar vittles, champagne toast, midnight tequila shots, confetti canon, photo booth, party favors. $35 advance tickets ($40 at the door. 3) Hudson Helsinki in Hudson, NY will be having their New Year’s Eve dance party and Lee Fields and The Expressions will be performing at 9pm.
4) Uptown Kingston, BSP, Magic Hat Brewing Company, and Chronogram will be hosting a New Year’s Eve Old Fashioned Cirkus and Freak Show from 8:00 pm-3:00 am. Yummy New Year’s Eve dinners will be offered at uptown Kingston restaurants, Sissy’s Cafe, Boitson’s, Duo Bistro, and Frogmore Tavern.
5) Stissing House in Pine Plains is serving a special New Year’s Eve menu that includes many delicacies including poached oysters, escargots, and home made foie gras terrine. Hours are 5:30-10:30pm. Reservations are recommended.
6) Diamond Mills Hotel and Tavern will be offering a New Year’s Eve dinner menu as well as a New Year’s Day buffet brunch with carving stations.
7) Hickory BBQ on Route 28 in Kingston will have their annual New Years Day Jazz Brunch featuring Unicorn from Noon until 4:00. In addition to their regular menu, their New Year’s Day menu includes Banana Foster stuffed challah french toast, fried chicken po’ boy, and cheddar cheese grits.
8) Sushi Makio, the buzz-worthy sushi restaurant on Morton Boulevard in Kingston will be serving a special New Years Eve dinner, a 6-course Omakase for each guest plus 1 bottle of imported sparkling sake to toast the new year, $130 per couple. 9) New World Cooking in Saugerties is hosting a New Years Eve Gala & Dinner Party with a Global Buffet dinner and a dance party.
10) Gigi’s Trattoria in Rhinebeck will be offering a 4-course prix-fixe dinner for $60 and New Year’s Eve dinner specials, as well as tapas a the bar. Terrapin in Rhinebeck is also offering prix-fixe New Year’s Eve dinners.
11) Catskill Rose in Phoenicia is serving up a delicious New Year’s Day brunch from 9am to 2pm with yummy entrees such as peanut butter waffles, and spanish tortillas.
12) Join Chef Novi for a special New Year’s Eve menu at Depuy Canal House in High Falls.
13) Need to recharge on January 1st? Head to the beautiful Euphoria Yoga studio in Woodstock where Laura Weiss will be teaching a Special New Year’s Day class from 10 am-12 noon.
14) If you are planning on staying in and watching the ball drop with Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin, and are looking for yummy treats to take out, check out Cheese Louise and Bistro to Go on Route 28.
