Fresh fruits and vegetables are an integral part of healthy nutrition and good cooking.  On Wednesday evening, October 20, St. Anthony Community Hospital will host a free informational event titled, “Good Nutrition at your local Farmers Market.”

The entertaining as well as educational event is from 5 – 7 p.m. and will be held in the Greenbriar Room at Mount Alverno Center, 20 Grand Street. Mount Alverno is just ¼ mile past the hospital and there is ample parking space. Seating, however, is limited and participants must register by calling 987-5197.

The evening program is sponsored by Morrison Food Service Management, under the direction of Susan Ernhout, as part of its community out-reach commitment.

Visitors will be treated to a flavorful, savory cooking demonstration by Carmela Decker, assistant food service director and accomplished chef. Decker, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, will prepare a chicken with apple sauté dinner featuring harvest fruits and seasonal vegetables available at local Farmers Markets.

Lynn Palmieri, DTR and Alison Adams, RD will be assisting with the presentation.
