This December, if the holiday hustle and bustle overwhelms you, if the planning and scheduling strains your brain, turn to a relaxing evening at Boscobel House & Gardens for what promises to be a serene, yet dazzling celebration of the season.

Boscobel, the iconic historic mansion overlooking the Hudson River, is proud to present its brand new illumination event, SPARKLE, Nights of 10,000 Lights. Taking place over six different evenings, SPARKLE will be a rain, snow or shine experience. So, bundle up and get in the spirit of the season with candlelit paths, sparkling lights and various holiday happenings…

Meet Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus in the Sparkle Garden to whisper your wishes and pose for photos (bring your camera!); find the towering Snow Queen who will be wandering the grounds looking for her trusty steed; join in the caroling with the Taghkanic Chorale, and enjoy the sweet sounds of the Katonah Celebration Bell Ringers. Find Thaddeus MacGregor in Boscobel’s Orangery where he will delight everyone with the sounds of his flute and the antics of his dancing Limberjack! Plus, for one night only, there will be a special ice carving demonstration behind the mansion by award-winning ice carver, John Hedbavney. (Be sure to check the schedule of activities at Boscobel.org for additions and updates.)

Leave the dazzle behind, and warm up a bit with a Twilight Tour of the mansion. Step back in time as a docent guides you through the halls of life in the early 1800s, a quiet, candle-lit era when holiday entertaining meant family and friends gathered together to enjoy a simple waltz and a sip of tea.

Executive Director Steve Miller says, “We want to attract visitors this December who wish to experience a less frantic, less commercial holiday celebration. We want the young, the old, families, visiting relatives, anyone who wants to enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of the season. We are keeping it simple and elegant, just like Boscobel.”

Boscobel is grateful to all of its sponsors to date, who helped make SPARKLE possible: Entergy, Eventful Magazine, Garrison Tree, Grey Printing, Hudson Hil’s, Kendal on Hudson Retirement Community, Powers & Haar Insurance, SK Electric, Stortz Lighting Design, Sperry Tents and Wilmington Trust/M&T Bank.

Sparkle takes place the first three Fridays and the first three Saturdays in December from 5-9pm (12/6-7, 12/13-14,12/20-21). Each night’s attractions are different, so be sure to check the schedule and purchase your tickets at Boscobel.org. Twilight Tours have limited space and require an advance ticket purchase. Members receive a 10% discount.

Boscobel is a not-for-profit, historic house museum dedicated to enriching the lives of its visitors with memorable experiences in the history, culture and environment of the Hudson River Valley.  Located on scenic Route 9D in Garrison New York, Boscobel is just one mile south of Cold Spring and directly across the river from West Point.
