New Event at the Rhinebeck Fairgrounds
Staff | November 6, 2011 | CommentThe Dutchess County Agricultural Society is producing a new event for the fairgrounds in 2012. Following notification by Good Guys that they will not be returning to Rhinebeck next year, fairgrounds management has decided to proceed with plans for the Rhinebeck Nationals Rod, Custom & Muscle Car Show. Hosted by the Hudson Valley Street Rods Club, the Ag Society will co-produce the event with Club President Sparky Ferris. Sparky instrumental in staging the Rhinebeck Show for over 20 years. The event will take place on July 27 and 28, 2012.
Citing problems attracting vendors to the state because of NY Sales Tax Dept. requirements, Harry Daviess, VP of Event Operations for Good Guys was most complimentary of the Dutchess County Fairgrounds, calling it “the nicest facility we produced a show in, anywhere in the country.”
Referring to this car show as “The Affordable Alternative,” fairgrounds GM Bob Grems said, “We hated to see the Good Guys leave. With all of the car enthusiasts that have enjoyed this show here in Rhinebeck for decades, we just can’t drop the ball and disappoint these people. With Sparky Ferris co-producing the show with us, we will lose very little. Sparky’s knowledge, experience, and connections, will allow us to produce a great show with very little change except for the name. Our plan now is to affordably price this event so that car owners and the general public will be able to return to Rhinebeck, enjoy hundreds of beautiful cars on the fairgrounds as well as all of the activities and events we have planned.
Pre-registration and information will be available November 1st at www.hudsonvalleystreetrods.com & www.dutchessfair.com
