New Wage/Working Installation at the Athens Cultural Center

Unique Listening Party and Reception Saturday, May 31, 5-7PM

Wage/Working is a jukebox-based installation featuring stories and sounds from the working lives of residents of Greene and Columbia counties.  Similar to NPR’s StoryCorps, the project was created by Tennessee Watson and Laura Hadden as a part of an AIR Live Interactive Residency during the Spring of 2013 at free103point9 Wave Farm, and WGXC 90.7-FM in Acra, NY.

Participants assembled short audio portraits of local residents. These recordings are installed in the working jukebox which will be on view at the Athens Cultural Center through November 30th.

This Saturday, enjoy some refreshments, meet the artists and listen to local oral history on the working lives of our friends and neighbors. The Athens Cultural Center is located at 24 Second Street, Athens, NY. For more information about upcoming events and classes at www.athensculturalcenter.org.
