MUSEUMWISE Honors Site’s New Exhibit with Award

As the 2013 spring season begins at Washington’s Headquarters State Historic Site, kudos went to the new exhibit, “Unpacked & Rediscovered: Selections From Washington’s Headquarters’ Collection.” This new exhibit was honored this past week with a Certificate of Commendation from MUSEUMWISE: The Museum Association of New York, for bringing more public access to the collection. The exhibit features over 1,300 rare, curious, and important collections not seen by the public for decades. Displayed as open storage, the galleries contain electronic catalogs housing a wealth of knowledge about each object, including images and details, curatorial information, related object references, and much more.

Come to the first publicly owned and operated historic site in the nation and the first example of historic preservation. Tour the Hasbrouck House where General Washington created and awarded the Badge of Military Merit, forerunner of the Purple Heart and be in awe of all he did here that has an effect on our daily lives today. Visit our award-winning Museum and make plans to come back again – there is so very much to see!
