Living Light: The Legendary Survival of the Saugerties Lighthouse

  |   May 15, 2012  |  Comment

Former Lighthouse Keeper Dick Duncan shines a light on the history of the Saugerties Lighthouse and its heroic rescue from demolition.

From crumbling disrepair to restored treasure, the 1869 landmark of the Hudson River is now a living museum thanks to the support of our very own community. Find out how it all got started, hear insider tales and have the chance to peek inside the tower, still a working aid to navigation for the mighty Hudson River.

This event is part of New York Heritage Weekend, May 20, 2012 from 1:00pm – 1:30pm (suggested donation $5).

Additional Activities include pre-season guided tours of the Lighthouse interior and tower given by local Lighthouse Keepers between the hours of noon and 3pm. Suggested donation $5/adult, $2/children.

The Saugerties Lighthouse is located at 168 Lighthouse Drive, Saugerties, NY  – 845-247-0656.  For more information visit www.saugertieslighthouse.com
