HudsonFest Weekend Events on the Hudson Valley Rail Trail Columbus Day Weekend

The Hudson Valley Rail Trail Association is presenting HudsonFest Weekend – a four day Columbus Day Celebration.

On Friday, October 11, they will host the Annual MoonWalk on the Hudson Valley Rail Trail at 101 New Paltz Road from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

The Annual MoonWalk is a unique event that features a nighttime walk on the trail and includes a bonfire and a storyteller.  Refreshments including popcorn, donuts and cider are served during the event.  There is a $5.00 admission fee for participants.  Children 6 and under are free.

All are encouraged to join us for an evening of fun and camaraderie with friends and family. This event is held rain or moon shine.  Please bring a flashlight.  Please note:  Bikes, scooters and pets are not allowed on this walk.

On Saturday, October 12, they will host the Annual “An Evening Under the Stars! Gala at The Would Restaurant from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

A special event of signature cocktails and local wines, unique Silent and Live Auction items, culinary delights from The Would Restaurant and the music of CloudNYne for your dancing pleasure.

On Sunday, October 13, the 4th Annual Highland HudsonFest will take place at the eastern spur of the Hudson Valley Rail Trail where the trail connects to Walkway Over the Hudson.

Join the festivities as we showcase local and Valley merchants, farms, vineyards, restaurant, artists and everything that makes our community so special.

HudsonFest is your opportunity to walk, bike or drive to the entrance of our trail at 75 Haviland Road to experience this magnificent trail and celebrate the contributors of taste, sound, vision and artistry of the Hudson Valley.  Vendors will line the trail offering you the opportunity to cool off with a fresh squeezed lemonade, satisfy your taste buds with a pulled pork sandwich, pick up a gift of local jewelry for yourself or a friend and even enjoy an October brew.

To round out the weekend, they will host the 1st Annual “Move Your Caboose Fun Race/Walk on the Hudson Valley Rail Trail from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

The event will begin and end at 101 New Paltz Road.  The course is partially shaded, gently sloping, mainly flat and paved.

The first 100 registered participants will receive a “Move Your Caboose” T-shirt.  Those registered by September 30th pay $10.00 for 12 years of age and under and $15.00 for 13 years of age and up.  Race day registrants pay will pay $15.00 for 12 years of age and under and $20.00 for 13 years of age and up.  Funds raised from this event will be used toward the restoration of our cabooses on the trail.

This race/walk is for the fun of it – thus the name “Move Your Caboose”.  Come walk it, run it, stroll along or just come for the fun of it.
