GARRISON, NY: (February 12, 2014) – Over the past several weeks, various honors have been bestowed upon The Garrison, the Hudson Valley resort featuring a golf course, country inn, special event space, and fine dining. Not only has the property been recognized as a superlative space for weddings and special events, but its management team has also been noted for innovation.

Chip Allemann, The Garrison’s general manager, has won a Trailblazer Award from the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce (PCCC), the county’s largest business organization and primary advocate, voice, and resource for the business community. Now in its fifth year, the Trailblazer Awards program honors Putnam County business owners and business employees who have gone above and beyond in one of the following categories: Emerging Trailblazer, Established Trailblazer, Mature Trailblazer, Environmentally Engaged Trailblazer or Socially Conscious Trailblazer.

Allemann was presented with an award in the “Established Trailblazer” category at the 4th annual Trailblazer Awards ceremony held on Friday, January 31, 2014 in Mahopac, NY. “It’s so rewarding, personally and professionally, to be considered among an amazing group of honorees,” said Chip Allemann, The Garrison’s general manager. “The Garrison takes pride in being part of Putnam County and the local business community.”

Additionally, The Garrison has been selected by Manhattan Bride for its “BEST OF 2014” list of superlative regional bridal industry vendors. Manhattan Bride recognized The Garrison among a short list in the category “VENUES-Westchester & Upstate NY,” based on the criteria of superior service, quality, and reliability.

Selected honorees were chosen for their dedication to the bridal industry, in addition to having the attributes of outstanding knowledge of the field, professionalism, reputation and positive reviews, and reliability. Manhattan Bride, a division of the Manhattan Group LLC since 2000, serves brides though a print publication with a circulation of 100,000, as well as a companion website.

Finally, The Garrison recently hosted a PechaKucha evening.  PechaKucha Nights are informal gatherings where creative people—artists, architects, designers—share their ideas, works, and thoughts in the PechaKucha 20×20 format. The presenter shows 20 images, and discusses each for 20 seconds. The PechaKucha initiative was launched in Tokyo in 2003 by Klein Dytham architecture, and has grown to more than 700 cities worldwide.

On November 21, 2013, nine presenters showcased their work at The Garrison, including artist and Cold Spring resident Jill Shoffiett, who described her project, “Darrell’s Party Hole and other Battlegrounds.” On January 25, 2014, Shoffiett’s presentation at The Garrison was also featured as the “Presentation of the Day” on the main PechaKucha website, as well as on its Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ accounts.

These three announcements follow the news from the past fall that Valley, The Garrison’s main restaurant, won the 2013 “Best of the Hudson Valley” award, sponsored by Hudson Valley magazine, in the category of “Best Restaurant With a View.”

The Garrison property includes an 18-hole golf course, two restaurants, a four-room country inn, and a special event and wedding venue. Built in 1915 as Bill Brown’s Physical Training Farm, The Garrison—along with its sister property the Highlands Country Club—is now owned by Chris Davis.

The Garrison is located at 2015 US 9, Garrison, New York. More information is available online at www.TheGarrison.com, or by calling 845-424-3604.
