Help our Veterans

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8645 has asked for our help in supporting their fundraiser on September 24th.  Below outlines their fundraiser and the benefits derived from it.

Many families are effected by war whether here or abroad — This is such a good cause — lets help them out!!!

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8645 of New Paltz, is hosting a Fund Raiser that will benefit Homeless Veterans on September 24 of this year. The purpose for this Fund Raiser is to raise money, and public awareness to help homeless Veterans. Homeless Vets are on the rise with the increase of troops returning from the front line. No longer is the issue of Homeless Vets a thing of the past, the issue is real and is here. This issue presents a clear and present danger for all Americans. This event is just one way to help those who have helped establish this country’s stability. One of the principles behind our organization is to help veterans in need: I believe that this fund raiser will accomplish this goal.

All of the proceeds from the event will go to Samaritan’s Veterans Program, a Veteran female homeless shelter in Ellenville, NY. On Veterans Day, the Post will have an open house, where at this time the Post Commander and other Officers will donate the money raised from the benefit to this charity.

Their Veterans Program provides residential services specifically tailored to veterans’ needs and is designed to promote trust. Their services include post-traumatic stress disorder therapy and counseling designed to address other co-existing mental health problems. The program design is an integrated therapeutic community model based on the principles of social learning theory. The program participants are engaged in mutually supportive recovery in an atmosphere that is sensitive to the special needs of homeless veterans.

We would appreciate any support or contribution that your organization can provide. Many people in your community are veterans themselves, maybe even your own employees. If any of your employees would like to make a contribution to the Charity, please make the check out to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8645 and put Homeless Veteran Fund Raiser 2011 in the memo section. Donations are not required, but are greatly appreciated. Any donation can be sent to VFW in of care of Karl Conboy, 2 Apple Lane, Wallkill, NY, 12589. The Homeless Veterans issue can use all the support we can muster for it.
