Gillinder Glass Design a Sun Catcher Contest

  |   January 14, 2013  |  Comment

Gillinder Glass is celebrating 100 years in Port Jervis in 2013 and to commemorate this milestone we would like to produce a very special sun catcher, one that honors our area volunteers or service people. What better way to do this than to have a Design a Sun Catcher contest! Last year’s theme was a sun catcher depicting Port Jervis; the winning design, a train, was submitted by John Nivens, a Port Jervis High School student.  John’s train sun catcher, with “Port Jervis, NY” written below the train, is a huge hit!

Designs for the sun catcher may be created by hand or by using a computer drawing program.  Submissions are due by February 28.  A panel of esteemed local celebrities will select the winning design on March 7 at 6:30 pm at the Gillinder Glass Store. The public is invited to attend and will also be able to cast a collective single vote.

The winning designer will be invited to the Gillinder Glass Factory to make the first production sun catcher and will be presented with this first sun catcher as a gift. The winner will also receive recognition in all press releases & advertising (with their permission) and will be represented in the 2014 Gillinder Glass Collector’s Edition Calendar, as will the first and second runners-up.

If you would like to participate in this contest, contest guidelines and a submittal form can be downloaded from the calendar on our website at http://www.gillinderglassstore.com/special-events, or you can stop in the Gillinder Glass Store at 39 Erie Street, Port Jervis, NY, or e-mail [email protected]  for the information.
