When looking for new places to visit this year don’t forget about the two pieces of history that are still alive today – the Catskill Mountain Railroad – where passengers can ride 2 trains, the Kingston City Limited and the Esopus Scenic Train in MT. Tremper NY. Step back to a time when train travel was the primary mode of transportation into the Catskills.

               The Catskill Mountain Railroad has expanded its Kingston operation to include the newly restored C9 Bridge over the Esopus Creek and an extended ride to the Hurley Corn Fields for a view of the foot hills of the Catskills. The CMRR’s Esopus Scenic Train offers a 5 mile round trip experience. Come ride in our restored 1922 Erie Lackawanna Coach or view the beautiful mountain scenery of the Catskills from our open air flatcars for a wonderful railroad excursion.

The Kingston City Limited operates out of the Historic City of Kingston NY! Trains arrive and depart from the Westbrook Station at Kingston Plaza . The Kingston City Limited will operate on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday of Memorial Day weekend. Then Saturdays only from June 1st thru August 31st. Every summer Saturday is a Special Event train ride. The Kingston City Limited also offers fun Halloween trains and Winter Holiday Trains.  Adult fares are $6.00, children (ages 2 -11) are $4.00 and children under 2 ride free with a paid adult fare.

The Catskill Mountain Railroad’s Esopus Scenic Train will operate May 25th thru June 23rd Saturday’s, Sundays, Memorial Day, June 28th thru September 2nd Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, Labor Day, and September 7th thru September 22nd Saturdays and Sundays.  Don’t miss experiencing the beautiful fall colors the Catskill Mountains have to offer. Our Fall Foliage Trains operate September 27th thru October 27th, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Columbus Day. Fares are Adults ride for $12.00, Children (ages 4-11) ride for $7.00, and children under 4 years-old ride free with paid adult fare. All trains depart from the Mt. Tremper Station.                The Esopus Scenic Train will also operate two scheduled “Twilight Limited” train rides on July 20th and August 17th. Ticket office opens at 7:30pm and the evenings events will begin at 8:00pm. You will enjoy light refreshments and live entertainment then the train will bring you out on the line to enjoy the beautiful starry night sky before returning to the Mt. Tremper Station. Adult fares are $14.00, Children under 12 are $8.00 and Children under 4 ride free.

               No trip is complete without a stop at the Phoenicia Station, home of the Empire State Railway Museum .
