– Starry, starry night…Hurricane Irene, snow for Halloween…what does it all mean? And exactly how do forecasters know what the weather will be doing 10 days from now? Find out at Boscobel’s special astronomy & weather event presented by two of the brightest stars in the business: Jim Witt & Joe Rao.

Jim Witt, an expert in long-range weather forecasting and weather personality for radio station WHUD, together with Joe Rao, Hayden Planetarium Associate and Meteorologist for News 12 Westchester, will be presenting a captivating celestial event for young and old.

Scheduled to coincide with the Leonidis Meteor Shower, guests are welcome to bring their own telescopes (or take a turn on those provided, courtesy of Joe Rao) and set up on the great lawn overlooking the Hudson River, under a wide expanse of night sky. Joe will guide guests on their exploration of the cosmos both with the naked eye and through telescopes, seeking meteors, planets and pointing out constellations while answering cosmic questions from all.
The always-entertaining Jim Witt will narrate his slide show in the Carriage House, talk about Hudson Valley weather patterns and forecasts, as well as sign and sell his picturesque, long-range, 2012 weather calendars.
Dress warmly and head over to Boscobel Friday, November 18 from 6pm to 8pm, rain or shine. (If inclement weather, both presentations will be held entirely indoors with audio/visual aids.)
