Brown DerbyExperiencing a bit of cabin fever? Why not Jazz it Up with the Poughkeepsie Jazz Project at The Derby (a.k.a. The Brown Derby) on Tuesday night? Members John Scanlon and Ben Basile are accompanied by Dwayne Douglas as they serve up Jazz, Latin, Blues, Funk, even a little bit of Rock.

‘The Derby’ is a great place to hang out, hear music, play trivia on Wednesdays. If you haven’t been there, you’re in for a treat. It’s a most cozy, refurbished ’30s-era tavern complete with an old-timey, dark-wood interior, which serves American comfort fare. One reviewer wrote that the ‘Derby Burger’ is outstanding…jes saying.

Speaking of trivia, Hudson Valley Magazine reports that The Derby is “the oldest active restaurant and bar in Poughkeepsie. The Derby, as it appears today, is owned by Jon Memmoli and Tony Jolly.”

The Derby’s conveniently located within walking distance of the Poughkeepsie Train Station.
