Ghost Hunt the Hudson Valley & Catskills

We’ve all heard of the Shanley Hotel in Napanoch, where guests can participate in a paranormal investigation. But the Shanley isn’t the only haunted spot around. Two other inns in the Hudson Valley and Catskills offer their overnight wards not only cozy, historic accommodations, but the also the kind that go bump in the night:

Burn Brae Mansion, Glen Spey: Built in 1907 and occupied by the wife of Singer Sewing magnate George Ross MackKenzie, Burn Brae has had four different owners, and all of them reported unexplained occurrences at the mansion. If that doesn’t creep you out enough, an elder couple who died at Burn Brae during the nineties is said to haunt it. Want to find out for yourself? Gather up 12 friends and have yourselves a paranormal investigation. A weekend ghosthunt is $2,000/group with individual investigations also available. Or, just reserve a room and keep your eyes pealed. www.burnbraemansion.com

pine bush house

Pine Bush House, Pine Bush: This c.1904 Victorian is located in Pine Bush, home of the Pine Bush UFO Festival. So it’s no exaggeration to say that Pine Bush is used to weird happenings. Some of that weirdness is centered around the inn, and you can join psychic and tarot card reader Barbara Roth on a tour to learn about some of Pine Bush’s more other-worldly residents (we hear that only the nice kind live at the Pine Bush House). You don’t have to be a paranormal enthusiast to enjoy the Pine Bush House, however. Its atmosphere is all about relaxation. www.pinebushhouse.com
