Orange County Executive Edward A. Diana and the Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation Commissioner Richard Rose are pleased to announce that the Friends of the Arboretum will be offering a program entitled “Dance like a Butterfly” for children ages 5 to 10 on Sunday, July 24 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Orange County Arboretum.

Children are invited to join instructor, Janice Vilardo, in the Ottaway Education Center to learn about butterflies. The afternoon’s activities will begin with Janice sharing a picture book about butterflies followed by the children coloring butterfly wings. With butterfly wings in place, the group will head outside to the beautiful Arboretum gardens and practice dancing around like these delicate and enchanting insects collecting nectar from the flowers.

The cost is $5 per child and pre-registration is required. Please call (845) 615-3828 to reserve a space for the program. This is not a drop-off event; children must be accompanied by an adult.

The Orange County Arboretum is located in Thomas Bull Memorial Park and is open to the public daily from dawn to dusk, free of charge. Take the Grove St. park entrance off of Route 416 and drive up to the motion activated front gate to enter the facility.
