Open Registration Announcement

Destination weddings are the fastest growing segment of the wedding market, and locations are based on several factors, including the beauty and style of the region, the ease of accessibility for their traveling guests, and the variety of fine foods and fun activities that the area has to offer.  Because of this region’s exquisite landscape, world-class farm-to-table cuisine and an unusually large variety of romantic, yet unique venues, the Hudson Valley is quickly becoming a top contender for a destination wedding.  This fact, coupled with the knowledge that each destination wedding brings in anywhere from $100k-500k, has inspired the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce to spearhead the first-ever Hudson Wedding Showcase on Sunday, April 28th from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Basilica Hudson on 110 Front Street.  The Showcase invites destination-wedding planners and engaged couples from near and far to learn about the beautiful Columbia-Hudson region, to meet local purveyors, and be inspired by current trends and bridal fashion. Couples will have the opportunity to have their planning questions answered by industry experts, see a virtual venue tour, get fashion consulting, have hair and makeup trials, and even have an engagement photo session, all for $20 per person when they register online ($25 at the door).

The Wedding Showcase will feature 50 local businesses that compliment the wedding planning process and provide a vibrant celebratory opportunity to network vendor-to-vendor and vendor-to-bride.  Lisa Light of Destination Bride will lead two informative seminars entitled “How to Choose the Perfect Venue” and “Wedding Planning 101.” Then a panel of experts will offer the “Wedding Planning Q&A” where couples are able to ask their own planning questions.

The itinerary also includes unique entertainment acts such as an aerialist performance, and demonstrations such as ice carving. The grand finale will be a bridal catwalk fashion show produced by Angela’s Bridal of Albany.  The show will feature haute couture fashions from bridal design houses, Lazaro, Hayley Paige, Tara Keely, and Jim Hjelm of NYC, Paloma Blanca and Mikaella of Toronto, Canada and Manuel Mota and Pronovias from Barcelona, Spain. Janet Cooper, owner of Angela’s Bridal, wants brides to leave inspired after viewing the 2013 gowns from designers all over the world. The mission of the high fashion show is to excite brides throughout this experience and help them find the dress of their dreams!

Registration is now underway for booth space for as little as $250.  Booth spots are assigned on a first come, first serve basis. Venues and vendors can also promote their businesses by advertising in the Virtual Venue Tour Video for $150 and in the first ever Columbia Hudson Wedding Directory for as little as $75, which will be produced for the event and then also made available afterwards at the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce office and online at www.hudsonweddingshowcase.com.

Sponsors for this year’s Hudson Wedding Showcase are: Angela’s Bridal, Basilica Hudson, Classical Tents and Party Goods, Columbia Tents, Destination Bride, Epic Filmmakers, Face Stockholm, JTD Production, Lance Wheeler Video, Photographics Solution, Pro Printers, Ranee Pierre Beauty Styling, The Pink Orange, The Rosery and Well Wed NY Magazine.
