We couldn’t resist! Mark your calendar for the Inaugural Dachshund Derby at Hunter Mountain’s German Alps Festival where contestants dash across the field to their owners as the crowd cheers them on! PRIZES will be awarded to the winner of the derby and to the Best Dressed Doxie!

The German Alps Fest is open and awaiting registrations  from short-statured, four-legged racers and costume contestants for the derby competition at HunterMtn.com/gaf  from now until Monday, August 4th, 2014.

This year’s German Alps Fest will offer plenty of new activities in addition to the fantastic German music and dancers including: Beer Stein Holding Contest, A Keg Rolling Obstacle Course, and if you’re up to the challenge – the Spitz Blitz a 3.2 km walk / run race up Belt Parkway and of course, dachshund derby from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM!

The Hunter Mountain German Festival always brings smiles to the faces of German-Americans and everyone else who attends. The good-time music is sure to get you up on your feet… or at the very least tapping your feet. Traditional German-American foods, Schuhplattler Dancers, plus some new entertainers, plenty of vendors, plus fun activities for the kids.

Fireworks Display Saturday Night! Adults: $12; Kids 12 and under are Free! **Dress in full authentic German garb for free admission!**
