The public is invited to join the Dutchess County Arts Council and Millbrook Vineyards & Winery on Saturday November 5, 2011 at 4pm, at the Millbrook Winery, when the winner of the third annual Art in the Loft Wine Label Competition is announced. A ceremony and presentation will take place at the end of the Winery’s Sip & Sign, a book-signing event with local authors and gourmet food purveyors that runs from 1-4pm. Admission is free.

The Dutchess County Arts Council (DCAC) and Millbrook Vineyards & Winery have enjoyed a successful collaboration for over 14 years, mounting a series of art exhibits called Art in the Loft, that run from May to November. Talented DCAC member artists exhibit their work in the unique loft space overlooking the winemaking facilities at the Winery. The ten regional artists who were selected by a jury to show their work were also given the opportunity to submit work to the Art in the Loft Wine Label Competition, with the public voting online and at the Winery for their favorite piece – choosing which artwork gets reproduced on a label. The label will grace bottles of Millbrook Winery’s 2007 Cabernet Franc Proprietor’s Special Reserve and 2009 Chardonnay Proprietor’s Special Reserve. These special bottles will be signed by the artist and available for purchase for a limited time only.

The contest has generated tremendous enthusiasm. The wine label art is on display at the Winery and visitors have been voting for their favorites. Online balloting at the DCAC and Winery websites has also been brisk and includes people weighing in from as far away as California. The total number of ballots to date is more than 500 and voting will continue online and in person until October 31. The current Art in the Loft exhibit, the last in the series, will remain until November 13, 2011.
